Garwood

Welcome to Garwood, NJ, a small, safe town with a dense suburban feel. Garwood has a great location, between the towns of Cranford and Westfield, but retains its own identity. Small, older homes line the streets with friendly neighbors and well tended yards. These homes are generally more affordable than their pricey neighbors. Being only a little under a square mile, everything in town is walkable - the post office, gym, food stores, train station, parks, etc. Garwood is very family-friendly. On a summer day, you will see parents pushing strollers, people walking dogs, kids riding bikes and playing outside. The center of Garwood is busy with many stores, supermarkets, restaurants and gyms.

Garwood is constantly growing. The Pointe, a luxury over-55 complex, with 3-floor townhomes and private elevators, was built a few years ago. Vermella, a large luxury rental apartment complex is due to be finished within the year.

Commuting

Garwood is a New Jersey Transit railroad station on the Raritan Valley Line. The station has limited service compared to neighboring stations, so its schedule needs to be checked. There are two short, low platforms on each side, long enough for 2 cars only. Passengers using the inbound platform must cross over a siding track. Access to neighboring stations is available on the 59 or 113 buses to Newark and New York, traveling between Cranford and Westfield stations.

Garwood is approximately 12 miles from Newark Liberty International Airport and the drive should take roughly 20 minutes.

Dining

Garwood has a variety of restaurants. Italian restaurants such as Rudy's Italian Restaurant and Lorenzo's Family Restaurant are popular. There is also The Station Bar & GrillRosie's Wine Bar, and &Grain to name a few. Looking for pizza, pasta and salad restaurants? You can take your choice and there are several Italian deli's with take-out facilities. Looking for something healthy? Try The Juice House on North Avenue, a popular place for smoothies, juices and acai bowls.

If you're considering eating-in, Garwood boasts two major supermarkets as well as a host of small stores. Shop Rite has a large store located on North Avenue and a Lidl recently opened on South Avenue.
